Quick Facts

  • Tapestry received a U.S. patent on May 11, 2026, for its AI platform Mira, marking the company’s first AI patent
  • The platform reduces data analysis time from days to seconds or minutes for assortment planning and inventory management
  • Tapestry reported Q3 net sales jumped 25% year-over-year to $1.9 billion with 76% gross profit margins

Tapestry, the parent company of Coach and Kate Spade New York, secured a patent for its artificial intelligence platform called Mira. The May 11 patent marks the luxury retailer’s first AI patent and second technology patent overall.

Mira works with Tapestry’s previously patented Global Data Fabric to connect data sources across the company. The platform automatically surfaces patterns and trends that previously required manual analysis across multiple dashboards.

“Before Tapestry’s data and analytics team created Mira, the company spent days combing through data from multiple dashboards to analyze its internal data. With Mira, that work now takes seconds to minutes,” the company said.

Tapestry teams use Mira for assortment planning, inventory management, and tracking consumer trends. The platform includes role-based access controls and operates within the company’s secure enterprise ecosystem.

“Our teams bring deep expertise, human judgement and creativity; Mira provides business intelligence to help our teams move with speed and agility,” said Fabio Luzzi, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Tapestry.

The patent comes as Tapestry reported strong financial performance. Third-quarter net sales rose 25% year-over-year to $1.9 billion, with net income climbing nearly 70% to $343.8 million. Coach sales surged over 31% to $1.7 billion, while Kate Spade sales dropped 10%.

CEO Joanne Crevoiserat said the platform represents years of deliberate investment in data infrastructure. “Mira is the result of years of deliberate investment in our data infrastructure. We have been building toward this, across merchandising, supply chain, finance and retail operations, for some time.”

The company raised its fiscal 2026 revenue guidance to $7.95 billion, representing 16% growth. Adjusted earnings per share guidance increased to $6.95, up over 35%.

Tapestry’s patent positions the company among retailers investing in AI technology. According to Stanford’s AI Index, 78% of organizations reported using AI in 2024, up from 55% the previous year.

The Mira platform was designed with retail and fashion language in mind, incorporating institutional knowledge from across Tapestry’s operations. The company expects the technology to support continued growth across its luxury brand portfolio.
