Marquee Brands announced a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Italian luxury fashion house Roberto Cavalli. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026.
DAMAC Group will remain a significant shareholder following the acquisition. Marquee Brands, owned by funds managed by Neuberger investment firm, operates brands including Martha Stewart, Sur La Table, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Destination Maternity.
“Roberto Cavalli is one of the Italian fashion houses that epitomize luxury, with a strong creative identity and an enduring brand ethos,” said Heath Golden, CEO of Marquee Brands. “We see extraordinary potential to build on this foundation through careful brand stewardship and strategic expansion.”
The acquisition adds Roberto Cavalli as the 22nd brand in Marquee Brands’ portfolio, bringing total portfolio-wide retail sales to approximately $5 billion. The luxury brand operates across multiple categories including Home, Junior, Eyewear, Perfumes, Watches, and Just Cavalli collections.
Milan-based The Level Group will serve as the core operating partner, leading development, manufacturing, and distribution of women’s and men’s collections. TLG will handle retail and e-commerce operations plus wholesale distribution in Europe and the United States.
Roberto Cavalli ended 2024 with sales of €79 million, up 5% from the previous year. However, the company posted negative €20 million EBITDA, reflecting ongoing financial challenges. The online channel represents only 7% of total business.
DAMAC Group founder Hussain Sajwani said the company will continue expanding Roberto Cavalli through branded residences and hospitality projects in global destinations, an area that remains fully owned and operated by DAMAC.
The deal follows recent consolidation in luxury fashion. Last week, WHP Global announced it would acquire Marc Jacobs from LVMH. Roberto Cavalli was founded in 1970 and acquired by DAMAC’s Vision Investments in 2019.
