- TikTok Shop is now the fourth-largest beauty e-commerce retailer in the US with $20 billion in GMV in 2026
- Ulta Beauty became the first specialty beauty retailer to launch on TikTok Shop in March 2026
- Beauty and personal care leads all categories with $2.49 billion in GMV, representing 83.2% of platform sales
TikTok Shop has emerged as a dominant force in beauty e-commerce, reaching $20 billion in US gross merchandise value in 2026, an 87% increase year-over-year. The platform now ranks as the sixth-largest health and beauty e-commerce platform nationwide according to NielsenIQ.
Ulta Beauty’s March 2026 launch marked a watershed moment for the platform. The specialty beauty retailer became the first of its kind to join TikTok Shop, signaling mainstream retail acceptance.
“TikTok Shop is still in its early phases and is being used primarily for guest acquisition and marketing rather than as a main driver of e-commerce revenue,” said Ulta Beauty CEO Kecia Steelman.
Beauty and personal care dominates TikTok Shop with $2.49 billion in GMV, representing 83.2% of total platform sales in 2026. Short-form video content drives nearly 60% of all sales.
The platform’s seller base exploded from 4,450 shops in mid-2023 to 475,000 by 2026. That represents 5,000% growth in roughly two years.
Live Commerce Drives Results
Live shopping has become TikTok Shop’s most powerful conversion tool. British cosmetics brand P.Louise generated $2.7 million in sales during a 14-hour TikTok livestream in September, with an average order of $80.
POV Beauty achieved $12,000 in sales in 12 minutes when it launched on TikTok Shop in July. The platform’s live shopping conversion rates often hit 6-8% during well-executed streams, compared to the overall platform average of 4.7%.
“Our goal is to double Lives’ contribution from under 10% to over 20% of the TikTok Shop business,” said AS Beauty CEO Joey Shamah. The brand increased livestreaming from four hours weekly to 13 hours, with plans to reach 20 hours in 2026.
K-Beauty Success Stories
K-Beauty brand Medicube generated approximately $21 million on TikTok Shop in November alone during a month-long Black Friday promotion. Wonderskin Lip Stain sells one unit every five seconds, while its Lip Liner Stay-N-Peel has crossed $46 million in GMV.
“TikTok Shop is different because it’s a three-sided marketplace with manufacturers, creators and users,” said Ajay Salpekar, general manager of beauty at TikTok Shop.
Market Projections
TD Cowen projects TikTok Shop will account for 4% of the total US beauty market by 2030, up from 1% in 2023. The platform’s conversion rate of 4.7% significantly outpaces other social commerce platforms at 1.9%.
