Quick Facts
- DoorDash is now a native sales channel in the Shopify App Store, available to U.S. merchants with a physical retail presence.
- The integration syncs product catalogs and inventory in real time, with no separate onboarding or manual uploads required.
- DoorDash reported 56 million monthly active users worldwide and surpassed $100 billion in gross order volume in 2025.
DoorDash and Shopify announced on July 14 that physical retailers using Shopify can now activate on-demand delivery through DoorDash’s Dasher network directly from their Shopify Admin. The integration is live in the United States, with international expansion planned in the coming months.
Merchants add DoorDash as a sales channel from the Shopify App Store. Setup time drops from weeks to days. Once active, product catalogs and inventory sync automatically between Shopify and DoorDash in real time.
No changes to existing merchant workflows are required. A retailer manages their catalog inside Shopify, and those updates reflect on DoorDash immediately.
Who It Targets
The integration is aimed at independent local retailers, including gift shops, sporting goods stores, and specialty food retailers. It is open to all Shopify merchants with a brick-and-mortar location, not just those on Shopify Plus.
That distinction matters. Since December 2025, Shopify Plus merchants have had access to Uber Direct for white-label same-day delivery in the U.S., Canada, and France. The DoorDash channel extends similar on-demand delivery capability to a broader tier of merchants at a lower barrier to entry.
What Each Side Gets
Mike Goldblatt, VP of Enterprise Partnerships at DoorDash, said in a statement: “Local, independent retailers are the heart of local commerce, and they deserve tools that work as hard as they do. As the first on-demand marketplace that Shopify merchants can activate directly from their existing Shopify Admin, we’re opening the door to retail merchants who can now reach their communities faster than ever.”
Atlee Clark, VP of Partnerships at Shopify, added: “This integration puts local retailers in front of millions of DoorDash shoppers and turns same-day demand into sales, all managed inside Shopify.”
DoorDash’s Retail Push
DoorDash holds roughly 29% of the U.S. online food delivery market. In 2025, the company became the leading third-party marketplace by order volume across grocery and retail in the United States. Revenue grew 27.8% in 2025 to $13.7 billion.
In Q1 2026, marketplace gross order value reached $31.6 billion, up 37% year over year, or 24% excluding Deliveroo. About 30% of monthly active users already order from categories outside restaurants. CEO Tony Xu has said that number should eventually reach 100%.
DoorDash added major retail partners in 2025, including Kroger, DSW, Family Dollar, and Old Navy. The Shopify integration is a supply-side move designed to accelerate that retail expansion by lowering the cost and complexity of getting independent merchants onto the platform.
Merchant Data
In DoorDash’s own Economic Impact Report, 90% of merchants said DoorDash helped them reach new consumers they otherwise could not have reached. Eighty-five percent of consumers said DoorDash makes it easier to support local businesses.
DoorDash has 35 million users subscribed to DashPass and Wolt+. That subscriber base gives merchants instant access to a high-frequency, delivery-oriented customer segment the moment they go live on the platform.
For Shopify merchants weighing same-day delivery options, the DoorDash channel now sits alongside Uber Direct as a direct comparison. The key difference is accessibility: this channel is open to all Shopify store tiers from day one.
