  • The Canadian retailer achieved record Q3 2026 revenue of C$1.04 billion with 34.3% comparable sales growth
  • Google’s AI Max has become the company’s fastest-growing AI-powered search ads product with hundreds of thousands of advertisers

Canadian fashion retailer Aritzia achieved an 80% revenue increase after implementing Google’s AI Max advertising technology. The results demonstrate the growing impact of artificial intelligence on ecommerce marketing performance.

AI Max analyzes retailer websites and creative assets to understand product inventories and priorities. The system matches user intent with retailer offerings by processing conversational search data to understand not just what customers want but why they want it.

Aritzia reported record Q3 fiscal 2026 net revenue of C$1.04 billion with comparable sales up 34.3%. E-commerce net revenue increased 58.2% year over year to C$383.0 million for the quarter. The U.S. market now represents 59.7% of net revenue at C$621.1 million.

The retailer’s strategic approach included launching campaigns months ahead of seasonal demand. When shopper signals revealed interest in the popular Super Puff jacket as early as June, Aritzia moved quickly to launch campaigns before the expected season. This resulted in a 55% year-over-year increase in demand for the product.

Google’s AI Max launched globally in September and has been adopted by hundreds of thousands of advertisers. The company reported more than $400 billion in total revenue for 2025, with ad revenue reaching $82.28 billion in Q4, up 13.5% year over year.

Independent analysis shows mixed results across the industry. An ALM Corp study of over 250 Google AI Max campaigns found median revenue improvements of 13% alongside a median cost-per-acquisition increase of 16%. Approximately 84% of advertisers who tested AI Max report neutral or negative results, though accounts meeting prerequisites consistently see results matching or exceeding Google’s averages.

Successful implementation requires specific conditions. Accounts need 100 or more monthly conversions for optimal AI optimization, though Google’s minimum is 30. The technology amplifies existing account performance rather than fixing fundamental issues.

Heather Lam Masters, vice president of performance marketing at Aritzia, emphasized reaching customers during active fashion searches. The brand adopted an omni-first mindset after proving digital’s value for both e-commerce and store sales influenced by digital channels.

Google is expanding AI integration across its advertising products. The company is testing advertising placement in AI search products and developing business agent features that let retailers customize how product questions are answered in their brand voice. Early adopters include Poshmark and Reebok.
