David’s Bridal Launches Agentic Commerce on ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot

Quick Facts

  • David’s Bridal now sells dresses directly through ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot using Shopify’s agentic storefronts
  • The move gives access to 880 million monthly active ChatGPT users without incremental listing or transaction fees
  • AI-attributed orders on Shopify are up 11x since January 2025 as part of the broader shift to conversational commerce

David’s Bridal has activated end-to-end commerce within ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, allowing brides to discover and purchase wedding dresses through conversational AI. The retailer becomes among the first merchants globally to offer fully integrated shopping experiences on generative AI platforms.

The integration uses Shopify’s agentic storefronts, which went live for eligible US merchants on March 24, 2026. David’s Bridal offers wedding dresses ranging from under $200 to over $2,000, with inclusive sizing from 0-30W available through Microsoft Copilot.

“What we want to do is make sure that we’re showing up in the places that our brides are searching,” said Scott Saeger, CTO at David’s Bridal. “It’s really the Amazon effect. A lot of people will start their progression in a product or whatever on Amazon. We want to be that for bridal.”

The strategy bridges physical and digital shopping experiences. Brides can discover dresses through AI platforms, save their selections, then visit David’s Bridal stores where stylists already know their preferences.

ChatGPT’s 880 million monthly active users represent an audience larger than Google Shopping’s reach in most merchant categories. AI-referred traffic to Shopify has increased 7x since January 2025, while AI-attributed orders jumped 11x during the same period.

“This is a defining moment, not just for David’s Bridal, but for the future of retail,” said Kelly Cook, CEO of David’s Bridal. “The next generation of commerce won’t happen on websites alone. It will happen wherever consumers are asking questions, seeking inspiration, and making decisions in real time.”

David’s Bridal operates without incremental listing or transaction fees beyond standard processing rates. The company remains the merchant of record across all touchpoints, maintaining control over customer relationships and first-party data collection.

The retailer is optimizing its product catalog for AI discovery, focusing on structured data including silhouette, neckline, fabric, sleeve length, train length, and size range. AI agents prioritize products based on data completeness and precision.

Walmart introduced ChatGPT shopping in March, while Sephora piloted product recommendations through the platform. Retailers including Target, Nordstrom, Lowe’s, Best Buy, The Home Depot and Wayfair have integrated into agentic commerce protocols.

“Agentic commerce isn’t something we’re reacting to; it’s a vision we’re bringing to life at the very frontier of commerce and AI,” said Mani Fazeli, VP Product at Shopify.
