The viral trend translated into immediate sales success. YSE Beauty’s $68 Xtreme Glow Dewy Peptide Plumping Serum launched March 26 and became the company’s strongest launch to date. The product beat first-day and first-week sales records while outselling its four-week forecast by 10%.
“Peptides are the buzzword of the year,” said board-certified dermatologist Dr. Lindsay Zubritsky at Clinique’s latest launch event.
The beauty industry launched over 110 new peptide cosmetic products in 2023-2024, with more than 1,180 peptide-based products now available across serums, creams and moisturizers. Multi-peptide formulations represent over 20% of recent innovations as brands combine different peptide types for enhanced effects.
Major companies are investing heavily in peptide production capacity. SK Pharmteco confirmed a $260 million, eight-line peptide facility in South Korea in September 2024. CordenPharma announced a $900 million expansion across US and European peptide platforms in July 2024.
Lorne Lucree, innovation advisor for YSE Beauty, credits K-18’s success for educating consumers about peptides. The peptide hair-repair brand launched in 2020 and sold to Unilever in 2023 for more than $1 billion.
“It wasn’t until K-18 came out that I think people were like, ‘Oh my God, peptides!’ because they did an amazing job educating on what peptides are and how they work,” Lucree said.
On TikTok, #peptide has generated over 233 million views while #peptideskincare reached 8 million views. Copper peptides alone accumulated 31 million TikTok views by early 2024.
Clinical studies support the marketing claims. Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 reduces wrinkle depth by up to 20% within twelve weeks, while acetyl hexapeptide-8 delivers smoothing effects comparable to low-dose botulinum toxin.
The global peptide cosmetics market is expected to reach $8.28 billion by 2035, growing at 12.3% annually. The US accounts for 37% of the North American peptide skincare market, with 64% of consumers actively seeking clinically tested ingredients.
Clean beauty integration drives 58% of new peptide launches, featuring paraben-free and cruelty-free claims as consumers prioritize transparent sourcing and sustainable packaging.
