Walmart+ Launches in Canada with CAD $89 Annual Fee and Crave Streaming Bundle

Quick Facts

  • Walmart+ launched in Canada on June 4, 2026, priced at CAD $89 annually or CAD $8.97 monthly
  • The program includes unlimited same-day delivery, free shipping with no minimum order, and Crave streaming subscription
  • Walmart+ replaces Canada’s previous Delivery Pass program and undercuts Amazon Prime’s CAD $99 annual fee

Walmart expanded its Walmart+ membership program to Canada, marking the first international launch of the subscription service that competes directly with Amazon Prime.

The program costs CAD $89 annually or CAD $8.97 monthly, making it cheaper than Amazon Prime’s CAD $99 annual fee in Canada. Members get unlimited same-day delivery on orders over $35, free shipping with no order minimum on thousands of items from Walmart.ca, and a Crave Standard with Ads streaming subscription.

“Walmart+ is a game-changer for Canadians, especially the busy families who rely on our everyday low prices,” said Catherine Theberge-Conner, Head of Membership at Walmart Canada. “Canadians are going to love the level of convenience, assortment and value they get with Walmart+.”

The launch replaces Walmart Canada’s previous Delivery Pass membership, which cost the same $89 but offered fewer benefits. Existing Delivery Pass members automatically became Walmart+ members.

Walmart+ makes Walmart the only major retailer in Canada to bundle streaming services with delivery benefits. The move targets Amazon’s market dominance, though the gap remains significant. Walmart holds 6.8% of Canada’s ecommerce market compared to Amazon’s 45.1% share.

“Without question, Walmart+ will impact Amazon the most,” industry experts noted. Walmart has outpaced Amazon’s growth rate in Canada since 2022, and grocery is expected to account for over 22% of Canadian ecommerce gains from 2025 to 2029.

The Canadian expansion comes as part of Walmart’s broader $6.5 billion investment in Canada over five years. The company plans to open dozens of new stores, including five new Supercentres in Ontario and Alberta by 2027.

Deepak Maini, SVP and General Manager of Walmart+, said the program aims to drive shopping frequency rather than just membership revenue. “Walmart+ is a relationship driver,” Maini explained. “If Walmart+ is useful enough, trusted enough and relevant enough, then choosing Walmart first stops being a decision and becomes more of a habit.”

Walmart’s 400-plus stores in Canada provide a last-mile delivery advantage that could be difficult for Amazon to replicate. Location data shows Walmart stores in Canada experienced strong year-over-year foot traffic growth throughout 2024, with July and August seeing increases over 20%.

The Canadian launch serves as a testing ground for future international expansion. Industry experts expect Walmart to adapt lessons learned in Canada for other markets where it has retail operations.
